are you guilty of stuffing your designer women’s handbags with everything but the kitchen sink? my goal in starting shortyLOVE was to streamline life with more organized bags— allowing us to pare back to essentials when we can or have a larger, lightweight bag with enough compartments to stash it all so we can find things quickly. key to being more organized is being prepared. that’s why i keep my everyday handbag ready to go with my must-haves for running errands, heading to lunch or wherever else my schedule takes me. it makes my day go so much smoother! not that i think everyone’s life is exactly like mine, but maybe your list of handbag essentials is similar? let’s see!
i know what you’re probably thinking: “i’m not going camping. why do i need a first aid kit?” because those annoying heel blisters or paper cuts always seem to happen when you don’t have a bandage. i keep a small kit (which should be on everyone’s handbag essentials list),just in case. you can find these kits in most drugstores or make your own. when i’m traveling or at the gym and carrying a larger bag, i tuck it into my stevie cosmetic bag along with wipes, pain relievers and bandages.
when i’m using a crossbody belt bag or small crossbody bag, i just slip a couple of bandages right into my bag.
you’ll frequently find me sketching new bags for the upcoming season, flipping through fabric samples, and working on set with models and photographers. moving through the city puts my busy hands in contact with public door handles, public transportation handrails, ugh. just thinking about it gives me the shivers. who knows what gunk and germs lurk there? to keep things clean at work, hand sanitizer is definitely one of my handbag must-haves.
at the risk of sounding old before my time, yes, i always bring tissues. vindication comes whenever someone asks, ‘do you have a tissue?’ — which they always do. for me, tissues are a total handbag must-have. super handy after accidental spills. for picking gum off your shoe. and, of course, for rescuing people who don’t carry tissues themselves. a small pack fits easily in any bag, from amuse to ranger.
some of you rely on gum. me, i’m a mints girl. working face-to-face with people in this business, i like to keep things ‘fresh,’ if you know what i mean. so you’ll always find a roll of mints in my bag. which is in your handbag essentials kit, gum or mints?
forgetting my headphones can feel like the end of the world, especially at the gym or sitting on a plane. these are on my mental handbag essentials list so i can avoid this tech disaster. and i try to make sure they’re charged up and ready to go!
pet peeve: dry lips. lip balm is one of my handbag must-haves year-round. it helps soothe and moisturize, so i’m not left with dry, cracked lips. i also keep a small tube of hand cream in my handbag essentials kit since hand-washing and hand-sanitizer can really do a number on my skin.
most of us are practically attached to our phones these days. too bad phone batteries didn’t get the memo. one minute, you’re posting a cute doggo pic, and the next, you’re hit with the dreaded low battery notification. and there’s no outlet in sight. keeping a portable charger in my bag ensures i’m never stuck with a dead phone battery on the go again.
how is it that these handbag essentials always seem to disappear together. i have no idea, but i’ll save my crazy theories for another day…
since i’m currently growing my hair out, i rely on my hair ties, clips and bobby pins to keep the craziness reined in. if you’ve ever impatiently waited for your pixie cut to grow out, you can relate!
sun protection is a must! keep that’s why you’ll find a pair of big ol’ stylish sunglasses in my bag and ready to go should i need them. likewise, i don’t leave the house without applying sunscreen first — and a small tube is in my bag at all times for reapplication.
the chance any of us will need a wallet in our bag is pretty good, regardless of daily agenda. but can your wallet hold your phone? it can if it’s a sleek jetty clutch/wallet!! my phone is my lifeline for work (and just in general) and it fits inside my jetty — my go-to when i need to have phone, cards, cash and even my sunglasses on me. the jetty has built-in rfid-blocking technology to deter identity theft — better safe than sorry!
sometimes i want to pare back even more — like when i’m taking the dog for a walk or going to an event where i want my hands free for cheering or clapping. this is when i throw on my shorthand or small cruiser crossbody. no need to pack a wallet, because i designed both of these organized little bags with three slide-in credit card slots, plus plenty of room for cash, phone and essentials. having a smarter small handbag really liberated me from lugging so much stuff when i don’t need to!!
is a handbag essentials list complete without a small cosmetic bag? with stevie’s cute, cubed style and sizable interior, i’ll let you decide. when i’m headed to the gym or vacationing, this small makeup and cosmetic bag is perfect for my lotions, potions and travel-sized notions. pop-red zip pocket to keep stray hair ties and other small knick-knacks in check. slide pocket for easy access to mascara and various slim cosmetics. a generous interior for my skincare routine. and her plush feel makes her perfectly packable for my tillie tote or boxer backpack. what’s not to love?
your handbag must-haves may not be the same as mine, or anyone else’s for that matter— and that’s okay! we all carry different lives, which makes our essentials vary. the one thing that remains for all of us? the need for a softer, smarter, more organized bag. find a bag that can streamline your life and you’re ready to take on the world.

take it from a busy business owner and mother: streamlining your life often begins with your bag. sometimes that means downsizing and carrying just the essentials… for your own liberation. other times it means finding a way to carry it all with organization and comfort… you know, for your sanity. as a bag designer, i’ve made it my job to problem-solve both scenarios. because in the real world, we face both challenges. so let’s take a look at three different ways i’ve tackled this common women’s issue by designing big bags that are not only smarter but intentionally varied — because women’s large crossbody bags, although extremely popular and for good reasons, don’t necessarily solve every problem.
you’ve looked at designer bags, so you know there’s no rule that says big bags have to come one particular style. for shortyLOVE, i’ve designed a big bag that’s a crossbody, another that’s a backpack and also one that’s a supersized weekender tote. from this bag designer’s point of view, women’s varying needs call for different kinds of big bags.
our crossbody and backpack keep you hands-free in different ways, and both feature a number of different details to keep you organized. our weekender tote, on the other hand, is primarily for carrying by hand and preferably for a short distance (home to car and car to airbnb, for example), with more open space and some organization. let’s take a closer look at each style and why you might choose one over another.
among women’s first considerations when looking at big bags is whether or not we need our hands to be free while out in the world. if your answer is ‘yes’, definitely consider a crossbody! a well-made crossbody distributes the weight evenly across the torso, relieving pressure on your shoulder and back — perfect for times when you have more to carry. i designed our women’s large crossbody, the wonder, using a lightweight, soft but durable and vegan-friendly nylon twill (as with all shortyLOVE bags), because who wants a bag that weighs them down? not me. unless you wear your crossbody on your side or behind you, you will most likely carry your load in front of you. although our wonder is designed without bulk, sometimes having it in front might be awkward for you… with a kid on your hip, for instance. just swing that bag behind you and keep on living!
i combed through our large wonder crossbody reviews to see how people are using it. they’re taking this bag to work with a laptop and sundry other necessities — having their hands free to hold a coffee or open doors is key. they’re traveling and using this bag as an organized carry-on that allows them to quickly pull out credentials or their wallet from one of the many handy pockets located inside and out. they’re headed to the tennis court, gym or yoga studio and loading it with a water bottle, towel, change of clothes, etc. moms are using it as a stylish diaper bag or ‘everything’ bag for playdates.
if you need a crossbody bag sized for everyday carry, take a look at the amuse — it’s not too big, not too small, just right! our jetty wallet/clutch fit nicely into the front outside pocket of either the wonder or the amuse. (and, you can change the whole look of your crossbody with a fun boardwalk strap! an option you don’t get with a backpack or tote.)
when you read the words ‘large backpack’, does that bring to mind hiking? middle school? no worries, i designed our large boxer backpack to be sleek, stylish, all grownup and for neither of those activities! there are two main reasons you might want to consider wearing this style of women’s big bag for your larger loads. 1. the weight is comfortably distributed across both shoulders and behind you, so it won’t get in your way. 2. because i designed our boxer backpack with a ton of clever compartments — a spacious interior, a hidden, padded laptop pocket, a separate shoe compartment, plus big and small pockets inside and out — you have more choices for organization.
remember all the ways people use our wonder large crossbody bag? they also choose our boxer for those activities. this is a popular choice for commuting and workouts. the boxer is by far our most popular travel bag, as it fits perfectly under an airplane seat and makes a day of maneuvering airport lines much less of a struggle. it also has a strap that allows you to attach it to the handle of your rolling luggage. handy. i see from our reviews that a number of travelers like to pack our stevie cosmetic bag in their boxer, to keep their travel-sized beauty regimen on hand. the boxer is also great for that extra layer you almost always need on the plane.
there was a time when carrying a tote meant your hands would be occupied. not always ideal. but today you have options! our large, quilted ranger crossbody tote bag has handles for carrying by hand, yes, but also offers a removable, adjustable crossbody strap to free you up! even more encouraging: the ranger’s handy trolley sleeve/luggage pass-through lets you attach your bag to the handle of your rolling bag and breeze through airports and down the jetway like nobody’s business. with organization for a ton, including 2 water bottles and your laptop, you can’t go wrong.
if you have just one takeaway from this blog post, i hope it’s that no single bag style is designed to slay every single activity — especially when it comes a big bag for holding everything you need comfortably and with a reasonable amount of organization. like any good tool, it makes sense to match the bag to your day. women’s large crossbody bags are stylish and solve many carrying issues, for sure, but sometimes a backpack or a tote is more practical. isn’t it a relief to know you have a choice when it comes to women’s big bags?

maybe the tickets are booked and you have the travel itinerary (mostly) finished. or perhaps a last-minute, irresistible getaway just popped up. all that’s left to do now is grab a bag and go! but is one style of bag better for your trip than another? the answer is YES! the best bag for travel depends a lot on the kind of trip you have ahead, the amount of stuff you need to bring and the all-important convenience factor. luckily, i designed a range of bags that can serve as your perfect travel companion depending on need. let’s see which is best for you!
key question: how are you getting to your destination? are you flying (international or domestic?)... or are you driving? hopping on a train or ferry? will you be limited to a carry-on size that can slip easily under the seat in front of you or in the overhead? are you okay with carrying by hand or throwing a strap over your shoulder — or do you need to be hands-free so you can juggle phone, credentials and a latté with ease? the right bag depends on all of these things and maybe even a few more. asking yourself these questions first will help narrow your excursion bag choices and help ensure the right choice for your trip.
narrowing your decision on the best bag for travel begins with 1. finding the one that fits all your essentials, and 2. considering how much convenience you need enroute. don’t know where to start? it might help you to create a list of what you’re packing: laptop, book/magazines, headphones, etc. pick a bag that has enough internal space to comfortably hold and organize everything without feeling overstuffed. i know size needs are different for every trip, so i designed bags that give you options. and then think about what problems you need to solve as you get from point A to point B…
friday: a hands-on, big weekender tote for big weekend plans. this monumental bag has enough space for an overnight or extended weekend, either across town or a roadtrip away. toss what you need into your friday, toss your friday into your trunk and motor on!
boxer: the perfect carry-on. a large backpack and hobo all in one, this hands-free, lightweight champ has plenty of space for your water bottle, shoes, laptop and even the plush yet packable stevie cosmetic bag. you can stay completely hands-free with this chic, indispensable backpack. and it slides under the seat in front of you on your flight.
tillie: she may be a medium size tote bag, but don’t underestimate her. she’s roomy enough to fit stevie, a laptop, a travel read, an extra layer for the plane and more. the go-to excursion bag for when you don’t need to keep your hands free and also don’t want (or need) the extremely generous size of friday. also fits under the seat on the plane.
wonder: i can tell you from experience that the wonder is the perfect large crossbody bag for every day — and for travel. your ideal bag when you must carry a lot lightly and keep it all organized while leaving your hands free.
why do i frequently go big with a bag like the boxer or tillie? besides offering space for a laptop and other essentials, these bags let me tuck in my small shorthand crossbody phone bag, small cruiser crossbody, or arcade belt bag right in, so i always have my sightseeing bag and my carry-on right by my side. it also means more luggage space! bonus: the shorthand and small cruiser offer room for my passport plus card slots, so it’s like a wearable wallet. don’t be surprised if you see me wearing both my cruiser crossbody in front and my boxer on my back while navigating the airport. i like to be prepared for the starbucks line!
digging through my bag to find my passport or laptop? no, thank you. the best bag for travel will have smart storage that’ll keep everything organized and ready to go.
look at tillie tote, for example. with her front and back exterior pockets, padded laptop pocket and cleverly placed pockets for small essentials, she’s totes organized. and then there’s the boxer backpack. it’s got a convenient front zip compartment for easy access to must-have items. a bottom compartment for shoes. a concealed, zipped, and padded laptop pocket. not one, but two side water bottle pockets. plus, more smart little pockets for your phone and other knick knacks. keep in mind that the organization you need will depend on the items you’re bringing.
just need an excursion bag with a big capacity and a few small pockets for essential items? throw and go with our mega-weekender bag, the friday!
you’re going to be lifting your excursion bag quite a bit. in and out of the car. on and off the plane or train. in and out of the cab. so unless you plan on working your shoulders and biceps, the best bag for travel will be lightweight. easy to carry. think around 2ish pounds or less (before you add your stuff).
made of soft, lightweight nylon twill, i designed shortyLOVE travel bags to add as little weight as possible to your day. gone are the days of worrying about airline bag weight limits! so go ahead –— add that extra book. or snack. or both.
who needs one more irritation when travel is hard enough? bags with rough canvas straps dig into your shoulders and leave red marks on your skin are a thing you shouldn’t have to worry about. and sliding straps that need constant adjustments? ugh. trust me, a better, more comfortable excursion bag makes all the difference in your sanity during a getaway.
heading on a weekend getaway? friday and tillie have silky, not-too-skinny, not-too-wide straps that fit right on your shoulders. waiting in the seemingly endless airport security line? i designed the boxer with comfortable, adjustable shoulder straps and a back clip strap to attach to your rolling luggage. going hands-free with a large crossbody bag? their silky, sturdy nylon straps are designed to resist digging and sliding. the bag you deserve is here.
i design bags that are softer, with a plush exterior and no hard corners to dig into your hip while walking through the airport. smarter, so you can find your ID when you need it without digging. organized, so you can pull out your phone charger in a flash. maybe i can’t reduce ALL the hassles that make travel a pain, but i can definitely make it easier.
the best bag for travel is easy on the shoulders and the eyes. it’s your excursion bag. you’re a grownup now and can finally have a bag with as much style as it has functionality! choose the color and style that you prefer— tote/shoulder bag, backpack, crossbody. if you don’t care either way, think about your carrying comfort instead. a backpack offers much-needed weight distribution for your shoulders during long travel days, while a tote or weekender is a bag you’ll be shifting from shoulder to hand and back again.
still can’t decide? try a convertible excursion bag that offers options for carrying. the boxer is two bags in one: hobo and backpack. and the wonder is a jaw-dropping three bags in one for the ultimate versatility: shoulder bag. top handle carry. crossbody messenger bag. plus, it supports boardwalk straps to punch up your shortyLOVE bag’s personality in a snap. your travel style just got an upgrade!
things can get a little messy while traveling. don’t let your bag pay the price. choose an excursion bag that offers easy maintenance so you can enjoy your trip worry-free. crafted using water-resistant nylon twill, shortyLOVE bags just need a quick spot-clean with simple soap and water, and they’re as good as new. take that, spills!
see, picking an excursion bag doesn’t have to be overly complicated! take it from a bag designer: you can travel smarter. that means lighter and more organized, with the comfort, convenience and chic, easy-going style you long for. you deserve it.

let’s face it: life is messy. some days, it seems the second i clear one spot on the floor, the counter, or a shelf, it immediately fills up with clutter. in my house, any spot clear of clutter becomes a magnet for clutter. inside my closets, the problem is magnified. heaven forbid i don’t put something away immediately because it quickly becomes a stack. (who among us hasn’t said, ‘i’ll deal with it later”… and then didn’t?) due to their variety of shapes and materials, figuring out how to organize your handbags can be a particular problem. i tried to keep handbag organizing ideas in mind when designing my shortyLOVE collection. there must be a way to minimize clutter and simplify storage, right?
this situation may be familiar to you… i remember a time before shortyLOVE when, as a fledgling handbag designer, i had to contend with organizing and fitting my own widely varied bag collection (it was research!) into a standard-sized, city-typical closet, along with the rest of my wardrobe — just like everybody else. the bags, primarily leather at the time, were different shapes. different sizes. some were stiff and took up a lot of room. others were more supple, not made for standing. there were crazy shapes that wouldn’t stack easily. there was no one way to store all those very different bags. some called for shelves (which there were never enough of), some for drawers. some just got tossed in baskets.
when i think back on it now, it all seems so complicated. i had to come up with my handbag organizing ideas because clutter is my sanity killer. i need to be able to put my hands on what i need right away. over the years, it became much much easier. here’s how i kept my sanity…
so how do you organize your handbags and solve the clutter problem? unless you have extravagant amounts of storage (most of us don’t), i think the most obvious first answer is to thin the herd — if you can bear it. as a bag lover myself, i’m certainly never going to tell you to get rid of the bags you love. however, i did find that culling my collection to the bags i use the most relieved most of the growing storage pressure in my closet. how to go about that is not as complicated as you might think, but you will need to commit to the process. you can’t afford distractions. set aside a few hours to figure out how to organize your handbags all in one go.
step 1:
begin by pulling out your entire collection. set aside anything that needs repair. set aside anything you’ve had for longer than a year but still haven’t used. and, of course, set aside bags you immediately identify as items to donate, sell, or pass on to someone else.
step 2:
now that you can see what you have all in one place, start grouping bags by type: clutches, totes, bucket bags, crossbody bags, shoulder bags, hobo bags, backpacks, evening bags, etc.
step 3:
this step is tough, but it’s also one of the best handbag organizing ideas: with your somewhat organized chaos now categorized and stacked in front of you, it’s time to ask yourself the hard questions. are you ever going to repair the bags that need repairing? if not, eliminate it. do you have duplicates? why? when it comes to bags you haven’t touched in forever, why are you still holding onto them? if it’s because “i might need them someday,” believe me, you can let these go. but if you hold a bag dear because it has a history you’re not ready to part with, keep it.
step 4:
at this point, the collection should be notably minimized and you can now strategize how to organize your handbags to better fit the space you have available. this is an accomplishment! pat yourself on the back for getting this done.
a potential step 5:
there’s a chance you can’t get it all done in a day because you might need to buy a few things to get bags put away efficiently — storage hooks, hangers, bins, etc. make a run to target or the container store, or your local hardware store, or order the hardware you need online. do this now while you have the momentum before those stacks of bags start to feel like a permanent fixture. this doesn’t have to be expensive. keep it simple, not stressful. you’ll be thankful later.
finding a place for everything should be so much easier once you figure out how to organize your handbags. i have good news when it comes to organizing your shortyLOVE bags: i designed them to be easy to put away! when a shortyLOVE bag shipment arrives at your home, it arrives flat. you might expect that for a crossbody bag, but our backpacks, totes, and cosmetic bags also arrive flat. that means you can put them away flat in a drawer or bin. below are a few handbag organizing ideas that is use for my bags at home:
this how-to may not work to organize all your crossbody handbags in general, but when it comes to shortyLOVE crossbodies, you can store them inside each other — so handy for saving space! put your flattened shorthand inside your flattened amuse. then put your flattened amuse inside your flattened wonder. then, stash up the whole stack in a drawer or bin. because our crossbodies have a slim profile, they also hang well on a wide hook or even over the same closet rod you hang your clothes on without taking up a lot of room.
how to organize your accessory straps for your shortyLOVE handbags? fold or roll them up nice and neat and keep them in a drawer (with or without dividers), in a bin or even inside the bag they match up with. you can also hang them up on a hanger — just drape them over the hanger rod. a tie hanger also works well!
if you’re short on space, here’s a handbag organizing idea: use a tote as storage! because shortyLOVE bags can be flattened, they’ll easily fit into a shorytLOVE tote. what to do with the tote when you’re not using it? stash flat in a drawer if you have the room. hang on a hook — either attached to the wall or a closet rod hook will do perfectly. or drape the straps over a sturdy wooden hanger and hang it up with your clothes.
i use my shortyLOVE backpacks a lot, so i tend to keep them on hooks where i can easily grab one and dash out to the office or the gym at a moment’s notice. but if you use your backpack just occasionally, here’s how to organize it with the rest of your handbags… again, shortyLOVE bags can be flattened when empty, so if you have space in a drawer for your backpack, that’s definitely an option. you can also hook the carry handle over the hook of a wooden clothes hanger and hang it on your closet rod. do you use your backpack only as a carry-on for travel? keep it inside your luggage, ready to go!
a drawer is a solid option for storing your shortyLOVE crossbody belt bag, of course, as is a hook you can drape the strap over. but i have a friend (so full of handbag organizing ideas) who owns a couple of our belt bags, and she insists that buckling them over the rod of a wooden hanger and hanging them up is the way to go. you have options!
my shortyLOVE cosmetic bags are always in use daily, so that you won’t find them in my closet. they’re in my bathroom cabinet, on the vanity or, in my beach bag, or in my gym bag! but here are a few thoughts on how to organize with the rest of your handbags: if you only use your cosmetic bag primarily for travel, flatten and keep it in a drawer or bin until you need it. or store it flat inside your carry-on tote or backpack until it is time to pack. or keep it in your luggage, and you’ll never forget it!
because wallets and clutches are small and have a slim profile, they’re best kept in a small bin or arranged on end (like a record collection) with dividers in a drawer when not in use.
for bags that aren’t soft and nylon and hence more complicated than shortyLOVE bags, you may have to get more creative with your handbag organizing ideas. there are a million influencer videos out there showing you how to organize your handbags by shape, color, and season, and you name it — i’ll leave that to them. if that makes you happy, by all means, do it! and if consolidating and organizing your handbags makes more room for better, smarter, harder-working bags, you know this bag designer is all for it.

ever had to stuff your travel essentials in a too-small bag? i’ve tried (and failed). not fun. i don’t want to dig through my travel bag for my phone charger. i want easy access to my phone, earbuds, passport, sunglasses, sweater, snacks and other items. that’s a job only a substantial, well-organized backpack can handle. not convinced? let me give you a bag designer’s perspective on how a better made, large backpack for traveling can make your trips so much easier.
let me clarify what i mean by “large backpack.” i’m sure one of the first things that comes to your mind are those gigantic bags people take on a backwoods trek or hike. while those have their time and place, those bags are not what i’m talking about. this post is about showing love to a big (not colossal) backpack — as in, the take it to the gym, bring it to the beach, load it for a commute or bring it as your airplane carry-on kind of backpack.
so, why should you bring a large backpack for traveling?
okay, i’ll start with the obvious. a big backpack is essential for traveling because of its storage space. bigger is better here because the size increase helps protect your odds and ends from damaging one another. trust me, few things are more devastating than discovering that your keys scratched your phone in transit.
laptop bags and briefcases, while sophisticated, don’t typically come with much room for things besides your tech. when you need to carry a lot lightly, our shortyLOVE boxer is your sensible yet stylish go-to. i designed this big backpack to comfortably carry everything you need for an overnight or travel day, with separate spaces for specific items. bottom compartment for shoes or even that extra layer: check. concealed, zipped and padded laptop pocket: check. room for a travel read, snack and travel credentials: check, check and check!
a large backpack needs to keep your stuff organized for non-stressful traveling. what good is storage space without organization, right? the more pockets, the better your quick and easy access to travel essentials. i intentionally designed backpacks to be more organized for busy travelers like us who want to lay their hands on what they need at a moment’s notice.
the shortyLOVE boxer has a handy front zip compartment for your passport, small wallet phone charger or other small whatsits, back pocket for your travel magazines, an interior cell phone pocket, a zip pocket for loose items, and other clever pockets to tuck away essentials.
if you’re like me, you’re guilty of having overpacked once or twice (okay, maybe more!) for a trip. a big backpack can help put an end to that. sound too good to be true? maximize space in your checked luggage by removing some items and adding them to your backpack. say, a pair of shoes, a sweater, a jacket… light things that will easily fit into your carry-on backpack., and it’ll help keep your luggage manageable and leave room for souvenirs!
traveling light and don’t want to check luggage? not bringing a carry-on suitcase? a large backpack works for either scenario, which makes them a great choice for traveling. bring a big, lightweight backpack as your airplane personal item. use it as your primary piece of luggage and hop on a plane, train or ferry. use it as your overnight bag. they’re that versatile!
it’s all thanks to a backpack’s storage space and flexible organization. you get internal, packable space similar to a suitcase (albeit more compact), plus added organization for your travel essentials with water bottle pockets and interior/exterior compartments. the boxer even includes a detachable pouch that you can use as a catchall for your bangles, vitamins, hair ties, cosmetics, you name it (need a bag with more open space for a weekend trip? throw your things into the shortylove friday weekender travel bag and go!).
remember those backpacks you carried in middle school? basic. not organized. not stylish. definitely not intended for travel. i kept that in mind when designing the boxer. clearly this is a big, beautiful backpack for us grownups. designed with the comfort you always wanted but always deserved. unlike the average ripstop or canvas pack, which often has straps that chafe, dig into your shoulder and slide around, the boxer has soft, comfortable nylon straps. padded. adjustable for your perfect fit. they can also be tucked away so you can carry the backpack on one shoulder as a hobo bag. it’s nice to have options!
that’s not the only comfort you get with this large backpack for traveling! i designed this chic backpack using soft nylon twill inside and out. easy to spot-clean with simple soap and water so it always looks good. i added structured internal padding for a plush carry that can hold its shape without being rigid. no more stiff corners that dig into your hip or back. when i say the boxer is softer, smarter and more organized, i mean it.
bonus: i also designed the boxer with a back clip strap, which can be attached to the handle of rolling luggage. convenient, yes?
picture this: you’ve checked your luggage. you look at the clock only to realize – gasp – your flight is boarding. trust me, you’ll have a much easier time maneuvering through crowds wearing a big backpack pulling luggage. just throw it on your back, hold your phone or boarding pass tight and hustle to that gate. and you don’t even need to worry about your things falling out along the way because the boxer is securely zipped up!
the boxer is my perfect carry-on. once through the gauntlet of lines and crowds in the terminal, i slide it under the seat in front of me on my flight and watch the cloud shapes outside the window… everything i need is with me and i don’t have a care in the world until i reach my destination. a big backpack makes traveling so much easier by offering versatility and organization. i realize everybody may not need a large backpack for traveling, so i also designed a sizable weekender travel bag for overnights and long weekends — it’s our oversized friday tote. and if you don’t need to take as much, i designed a stylish, organized medium-sized tote bag — the tillie. she’s all zipped up, so she won’t spill your things on the floor. whichever bag you choose, throw in a coated, water-resistant stevie cosmetic bag to hold your travel-sized notions. she’s super handy!
safe travels!

while carrying my whole life in my bag is a must for extended work days and maneuvering through airports, that’s entirely unnecessary for nights out. i don’t know about you, but there’s no way i’m wearing my large crossbody to dinner (even if she is a beaut). i want to shed my workday, not bring it with me while i’m trying to relax. essentials only, please! an evening out calls for something more minimal and sophisticated. in this regard, clutches have advantages — if designed to be better from the outset. . scaled back — but more functional. chic — but with more than just good looks.
i think a clutch is perfect for an event where you don’t necessarily need to keep your hands free and holding your bag in your hand or tucking it under your arm won’t be a nuisance. so i designed two different options that can serve as your evening clutch purse while offering organization. let’s take a look!
as a bag designer and all-around bag lover, i’m no stranger to large — and heavy — bags. been there, seen that. and carried that. so i can attest to just how much of a strain they put on your back, neck and shoulders. your poor, poor shoulders. that’s one of the reasons i design all shortyLOVE crossbody bags and backpacks to be better — extremely lightweight, plush for comfortable carrying, hands-free and gentler on your shoulders (hello, silky nylon straps). but i also see the need for a low-profile, no-fuss clutch/wallet you can put your hands on. case in point: our jetty. streamlined. . pleasingly plush, so it feels good in your palm, thanks to memory foam padding. and lightweight, with absolutely nothing to weigh you down. that’s advantage number one for carrying clutch purses for evening!
one of the frequent complaints i hear against most clutch purses is their lack of space. i know we’re talking about evenings out here, but we generally need to carry more than many clutches allow lip gloss. i kept that in mind while designing the jetty with room for the essentials but a bit more. i gave it enough interior space with a depth of just under 1”, making just enough room for a phone, cash, lip gloss and even glasses.
because i love having options, when i need to carry a bit more than the jetty can hold, i simply remove the strap from my wave quilted small cruiser crossbody bag and carry it as a clutch. love that quilted exterior — but the cruiser’s real advantage as a clutch is space. although only marginally taller and longer than the jetty, i designed the cruiser with a gusset, allowing the depth to expand by as much as 3 ⅝”. so you get more space without sacrificing the compact size.
if you have to dump out your clutch in order to find that one thing you need, that’s a poorly designed bag! inside the jetty, you’ll find something lacking in most clutches: the organization of a phone bag/wallet, along with the benefit of rfid-blocking protection to deter thieves who want to steal your credit card data. bonus, right? among the improvements on the typical day-to-evening clutch purse, our jetty features a slide-in bill compartment, six card slots in red nylon (easier to see your cards), and a pop-red zip coin pocket to hold your change. as you can see, the jetty may have a slim profile, but it has impressive organizational skills.
the small cruiser, on the other hand, offers handy zip pockets front and back for keys, phone and whatever you want to keep handy. stylish but also immensely practical, even for a small crossbody bag that doubles as a clutch/wallet! the cruiser is also organized inside, with 4 card slots (a few less than the jetty) and a zippered pocket for change or loose items.
did i mention both bags include our signature shortyLOVE blush lining to help you spot what you’re looking for? it’s true. unlike too many evening clutch purses out there, both the jetty and the small cruiser offer more than just good looks. organization is an advantage i refuse to go without — and you should, too. we all deserve a better clutch.
if you’re like me, you love a simple clutch. they’re minimalist modern and a great way to accessorize everything from summer dresses to sleek jumpsuits. but not for every event — especially standing or outdoor events. you bring an evening clutch purse to a sit-down dinner party. to restaurants. not to an outdoor function if you can help it. and certainly not to anything that requires holding a plate and a wine glass. and don’t even get me started on setting a clutch down. distractions happen. forgetfulness is all too common... wait, what was i saying?
it’s an issue if i set my clutch purse down and see a friend across the room, because that means i’m leaving my clutch unattended and at the mercy of strangers. nope. not taking chances. for this kind of evening, i’ll be wearing a slim, close-to-the-body crossbody bag or belt bag i don’t have to think twice about. and what if i need to respond to yesterday’s texts? sample appetizers? share cute pictures of doggos on insta? i can’t do any of that if i’m holding an evening clutch purse now, can i? if you’re either an octopus or a juggler, perhaps you’re a total pro at holding 100 multiple items at once — i am not. this particular clutch purse issue may not be a problem for you!
do you love an artful evening clutch as much as the next person but have no time or patience for fussy, precious bags you have to worry over? that would be me. even a bag i only carry occasionally needs to be easy to care for or forget it. that’s why i’ve designed all shortyLOVE bags with high-quality nylon that spot-cleans with simple soap and water. that’s especially important with a clutch you’ll have your hands on.
i don’t know about you, but i think there’s something about an evening clutch purse that feels so… of the moment. statement-making. one of the main clutch purse advantages is that it can upgrade any outfit. go from blah to relaxed sophistication with one little bag, such as the jetty. classic black. eye-catching leopard. a complementary shade. the choice is yours!
but i made sure you can also opt for a bag with a dimensional exterior — our small, wave quilted cruiser. slim, with an easy to hold profile, the look is fresh, and refined. plush yet polished. but very different from the smooth, sleek jetty. catch the quilted trend by simply accessorizing with a smart, organized, versatile clutch.
obviously, i am not hands-free when i carry my jetty clutch/wallet, but i haven’t lost versatility. a huge advantage of an evening clutch purse is that i can carry by hand only when i want to during the day or when traveling, i like to tuck it into my tillie tote, amuse crossbody or boxer backpack so i have my essentials handy at a moment’s notice. come night, i take my clutch out for that much anticipated dinner reservation.
on the other hand, when i wear my small cruiser crossbody bag to work or while standing in the check-in line at the airport, i’m basically using it as my wallet with my id, cards and phone on me at all times. it only takes a few seconds to unclip the crossbody strap once i reach my destination and carry my bag as a clutch for dinner or a cocktail with friends.
i love a good evening clutch purse. emphasis on good. because I don’t have the time or patience for a clutch that lacks organization and space. where do they expect us to put our phones? but that’s a story for another day, because i solved that problem when i designed the jetty clutch/wallet and the small cruiser crossbody (which doubles as a great clutch)!
you deserve a better clutch. softer. smarter. more organized. with room enough for your phone, cards, cash and a little more three cheers to clever evening clutch purses with all the functionality of a wallet and then some!

packing for a vacay is hard enough before you even get to your skincare regimen, haircare, makeup and other little essentials. first, you must ensure all those tubes and pots and bottles are the right size for tsa (how many ounces is it again?). then it’s getting them organized in your cosmetic bag. ready to go, yet? nope, you still have to fit it into your luggage, which is already full. sigh. this is going to take a while.
supposing any of that sounded familiar, hello, friend! you’re not alone when it comes to packing challenges! but i’m here to tell you: things can be a little easier with the right cosmetic bag for travel. wondering where to begin? here’s how to choose a better, smarter travel companion.
size matters. there, i said it. and if you’ve ever tried to zip up a bulging, over-filled, too-small cosmetic bag, you probably agree. it’s essential to choose a bag with plenty of room to hold everything you need comfortably. it just comes down to choosing the right size for you. how long is your trip? are you a cosmetics queen? are you carrying sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, etc., for the whole family? asking yourself these questions will help you find your perfect cosmetic bag.
the struggle is real, i know. that’s why i set out to create a makeup and cosmetic bag for travel that means business. fits your travel-size beauty regimen. opens wide so you can see all your stuff. whether you’re a makeup maven or a bewitching beauty with endless lotions and potions, stevie is easy to use, easy to care for and always ready to take flight.
an organized cosmetic bag can make or break your morning. trust me. it’s no fun trying to find that one lip gloss or hair tie in an overcrowded bag — especially as your travel companion gives you the side eye as they wait. a makeup bag with a few clever pockets can make all the difference. sign me up, like yesterday! choose a cosmetic bag for travel with some organization to make finding your stuff and getting ready 10 times easier.
stevie may look small at first glance, but she’s the ideal size and can handle a lot. pop-red zip pocket for hair ties and other small essentials, so you don’t have to chase them around the bottom of your bag. slide pocket to keep slim items like mascara and a toothbrush accessible. holds a ton of makeup and skincare. she’s a free spirit with a thing for organization.
cosmetics and other toiletries can be messy, but your bag shouldn’t have to pay the price. no matter how diligent you are about tightening lids, the occasional spill or leak is bound to happen. that’s why you want an easy-to-clean cosmetic bag for travel. something that you can wipe with ease. no one wants to panic-clean a cosmetic bag on vacation. or at home. or at the gym. or anywhere. crafted with a coated, signature-blush nylon lining and a water-resistant nylon twill body, a quick wipe-down or spot clean with plain ol’ soap and water is all that’s needed if stevie gets smudged with your new foundation.
are you flying? i jokingly brought up tsa up above, but it’s worth touching on one of their rules just briefly. whether you’re tucking your cosmetic bag into your carry-on or packing it into your checked luggage, you’ll need to zip your liquids, gels and aerosols into quart-sized bags — so basically anything that might possibly leak. you can tuck that into your cosmetic bag for easy retrieval and remove everything once at your destination. a pain, yes. but since air pressure changes have the potential to create a disaster in your bag, this rule has its advantages!
remember how i said you should choose an easy-to-clean cosmetic bag? material makes all the difference. as lovely as they look, suede and leather are notoriously tricky to clean — a problem when your cosmetic bag’s natural environment is on a bathroom vanity next to the sink. i want a cute bag that can shed water and isn’t a pain to clean — is that so much to ask? coated nylon is known for its resilience and water-resistance, meaning it provides your cosmetic bag for travel with protection. the water resistance of nylon also helps prevent spills from seeping into your bag and ruining everything inside.
take another cue from stevie: you want a chic and organized cosmetic bag with a sturdy, chunky vislon zipper like hers — never metal, which will eventually corrode or rust. that’s a mess and a sure way to throw your money down the drain. avoid at all costs!
a stylish cosmetic bag isn’t as important as an organized one, but it’s definitely a plus. i know for a fact how cute stevie looks sitting atop the vanity at some magical destination, since i’ve brought my own to quite a few. you can picture it yourself, can’t you?
i designed stevie with classic, dopp-kit styling in a range of colorways — including leopard. find the one that vibes with your style or coordinates with your other shortyLOVE bags. so you can raise your travel game, effortlessly.
and now to the big one: packability. if you’re like me, you’ve had trouble packing your bag at one point or another. i want to know i can tuck my cosmetic bag into my friday weekender, boxer backpack or tillie tote without worrying about space. so, a cosmetic bag for travel that will make packing more accessible for me is a total win.
size and craftsmanship both have an impact. big, hard-shelled cosmetic bags — practical but take up too much precious bag space. tiny cosmetic bags — easier to pack but not useful. but a just-right bag that’s cute, cubed and fits everything i’ll need? ding, ding, ding! stevie is plush for packability, yet has structured internal padding to help hold shape in and out of your luggage. your dream cosmetic bag for travel come to life.
this is your captain speaking. the forecast for your trip looks bright and problem-free with the right cosmetic bag by your side.
i can’t stress enough how important it is to choose an organized cosmetic bag for travel that gives you everything you want and more. style. plush packability. fits your makeup and cosmetics comfortably. it’s your one-way ticket to vacation paradise. your return date? let’s just pencil it in for now. happy travels!

with warm-weather travel approaching, my social feed will soon be filled with friends jetting off to their various adventures — and, honestly, i hope to be one of them. sunshine. palm trees. no schedule. sigh. when i do finally book that trip, the carry-on bag to round out that vacation vibe is the boxer. negotiating airports and tight airplane aisles is so much easier with a soft, lightweight, comfortable-to-carry backpack that keeps my hands free while organizing everything i want for my flight. you want that too, right? let me show you how i designed this versatile backpack to combine the practicality, comfort and style that you deserve and have searched so long for!
this is the largest backpack i’ve designed for shortyLOVE. i wanted to make sure you had plenty of space to carry your travel essentials.
before I head to the airport, i like to throw on my small shorthand crossbody phone bag to keep my credentials, cards, cash and phone close to me during the trip, and load everything else into my boxer. but if i have a lot to carry that day, i wear my large wonder crossbody instead and tuck my jetty clutch/wallet into the front pocket for easy access. it’s good to have options! you can also get on the flight with the boxer as your only bag, of course. i prefer not having to remove my backpack every time i need to grab my wallet. and before those morning flights, you know i’m going to make a stop at a coffee shop at least once in the terminal — my crossbody and my backpack keep my hands free for that latté!
remember those polyester backpacks we all carried to school back in the day? they’re sturdy and chafing! when i’m traveling, i don’t want my shoulders to be screaming at me by the time i finally reach my destination. wearing a lightweight backpack is just as important as having ample storage.
i set out to design a more grown-up backpack. an organized backpack that delivers the lightness i wanted without sacrificing functionality space or durability. at just 2.21 lbs, our shortyLOVE boxer isn’t going to add excess weight to your load. your shoulders will thank you later.
we always want to carry a comfortable bag, especially for a day of travel. with soft nylon twill outside and plush internal padding, the boxer has comfort down. no scratchy fabrics. no stiff, hard corners that dig into your hip. that sounds like the carry-on bag of your dreams, right?
storage for all of your travel essentials isn’t the only reason why this versatile backpack is travel-ready. because the details matter, i designed the boxer with a handy back clip strap so you can attach it to your rolling luggage — hassle-free. load it, zip it, clip it and get through those narrow airplane aisles in no time!
before the shortyLOVE boxer existed, i dreaded schlepping a stiff, awkward carry-on bag — usually an open-topped tote — down the slim aisle on my flight, then having to jam it under the seat in front of me only to have my things fall out. this is something shortyLOVERS report really appreciating about the boxer. listen to them — it really is the perfect carry-on and travel bag! fits right under the airplane seat just like it fits your travel essentials!
as a business owner on the go, i need an organized backpack that can keep up with me and my travel schedule. that means having all the interior storage i need to carry everything from my laptop to hand sanitizer. but i wanted to design something that not only has space but offers better organization — inside and outside. more organized.
ever settled in for your flight or on the train and you couldn’t find your earbuds? immediate heartbreak. with this versatile backpack, a cleverly placed pop-red zip pocket keeps those tiny essentials right where you can find them. plus, the light blush interior helps you find what you need when you need it.
more storage, you say? this is a backpack that’s organized for grownups, remember? instead of cramming stuff into a single pocket, i also included a matching detachable pouch as a catchall for small items like travel-sized toiletries, cosmetics or even your emergency chocolate – because hey, it’s been a long day!
from top to bottom, i overlooked nothing to make our trips easier with this organized backpack. the bottom front zip compartment is the perfect size for a change of shoes — maybe you want to throw your sandals on when you arrive, who knows? it’s also a great spot to stash that cute hoodie you might want for an extra layer on the flight. the smart, concealed, zipped and padded laptop pocket keeps your laptop safe and secure on the go. the back pocket holds reading materials or chargers. the front zipped compartment gives quick access to your passport or phone (when it’s not in your hand, of course). and i didn’t forget about adding two side water bottle pockets so your emotional support hydration is always there when you need it.
bottom line: you don’t have to settle for a backpack that isn’t organized the way you want.

i designed the shortyLOVE boxer to solve the problems the other options out there overlook. i know not just from my own experience but from decades of designing bags that it’s essential that our backpacks be versatile. i wanted to create a stylish, organized backpack that could simplify going virtually anywhere, from a last-minute overnight or a dreamy getaway to a tropical paradise (so jealous) that you planned for months.
the boxer isn’t just any backpack. i made sure that the straps are easily adjustable so you can get the fit just right. and because opinions matter, i designed it to convert from backpack to a hobo in seconds. stylish. versatile. multi-purpose. throw it over your shoulder and go sight-seeing for the day. hit the shops. grab lunch. the boxer is ready to explore with you!
just because this backpack is organized and totally practical doesn’t mean it’s not stylish. you don’t need to sacrifice style for utility. been there. done that. never again. designed for real life, the boxer is no-nonsense chic. its classic, streamlined design is simple and doesn’t get in your way. convertibility gives you the function and style you want. and 10 different colorways can be your vacation outfit.
you deserve a better backpack. more lightweight. easier to carry. softer. smarter. more organized. stylish and utilitarian, the boxer is a large, organized backpack you’ll never want to leave home head to the airport or jump on a train or ferry without.
a backpack called the boxer? yep, just like being in the ring. it works hard. it’s strong. agile. it may be a backpack, but i like to think of it as a lightweight champ. no way i’d survive any escape without it. wherever you’re headed next, i wish you happy travels — and the perfect carry-on. bon voyage!

as much love and attention i give as a designer to designing bags that are softer, that are more organized, i also love exploring color. how could i not? it’s such a big part of self-expression. use it to change up your style. to express your mood. to have a little fun! that’s why i’m always dreaming up new color combinations i can share with my shortyLOVERs. one day you may want to throw on a light pink crossbody bag, but the next day just begs for khaki and bright orange.
shortyLOVE launched five years ago with black and navy, two tried-and-true colors that work well with most people’s wardrobes. next up, we introduced our extremely popular camos: green, grey and blue. featuring a contrasting, sunny yellow strap, green camo became our very first two-toned handbags. since then, we’ve expanded the collection with more options. i’ve worked hard to create a cohesive collection of colors that coordinate with each other, so you can feel free to mix it up. let’s take a look at your options….

leopard, our newest introduction. it’s stylish. confident. fierce. just like you. you can wear leopard to show your wild side. or wear it as the timeless classic and modern neutral it’s now become.
i love throwing on a leopard shortyLOVE bag as both a neutral and as a fun stand-out. black tees, jeans and a leopard bag are practically begging to be worn together – who am i to say no? our leopard bag pairs well with neutrals like black, olive, tan, gold or white but is also a great contrast to blue denim, reds and burgundy, as well as purple tones. want to personalize it? accessorize your leopard crossbody with our black/brown/almond boardwalk strap. pounce on it.

i design shortyLOVE bags with colors that work in harmony with one another — like slate and teal. i’ve been a fan of color blocking from the time i was a design student studying the bauhaus movement. i’ve always found something so striking in setting strong colors side by side, so i was was thrilled when we recently introduced our colorblocked slate/teal crossbody bags, tote bags and wallets.
it’s also a little different from the rest of the . how? rather than having a singular color, it has three! the front is a cool slate grey, the back is a serene teal and our crossbodies and totes are finished with mocha straps and finished with straps. to top it off, i also designed a slate/teal/mocha boardwalk crossbody strap. i’m really loving the combo — and i think you will, too.

2023 belonged to barbie and the fashion world went head over heels for pink. i love pink, too, but for our shortyLOVE bags, i toned it down to a refined shade that works for all seasons — this pink has staying power. another opportunity to create two-toned handbags, this colorway features a sophisticated light pink on the body with contrasting khaki straps. the color complements our signature blush pink interior like a dream.
i love wearing a light pink crossbody bag as a modern neutral, but i think it also works perfectly as a subtle pop of color. so chic. add our navy/blue/pink or burgundy/pink/red boardwalk strap to your crossbody for a personal touch.

i designed our drop-dead gorgeous khaki and orange color combo to be light, bright and oh so right — for warm weather, sweater weather, for any season. a classic, sophisticated neutral that goes with just about every color in the spectrum, khaki looks especially good with greens, blues, teal and summer whites. that extra pop of orange takes khaki from plain to wow in an instant — a perfect pairing. i’m seeing a pattern here: i must love two-toned handbags, because i keep designing them and you keep asking for more! for your khaki crossbody, our mocha/khaki/blue/orange boardwalk strap really dials up the contrast.

if our light pink crossbody isn’t quite you and you’d like a new color that’s a little deeper consider burgundy. darker than pink but richer than red, burgundy offers the perfect balance within the red family.
p.s. i think this color would look great paired with one of our leopard, pink or burgundy merchant small wallets!

people kept asking for grey shortyLOVE bags, so of course I sketched designs like mad until i came up with something that was eye-catching for a color that’s typically neutral. with a cool, crisp, sophisticated undertone, our versatile shade of grey coordinates particularly well with blues, greens, dark grey and black. i added contrasting black accents to really set the grey apart on the body, with chunky, sunshine yellow straps to add a vibrant pop of color — the perfect amount of fun! this three-toned design goes a step beyond our two-toned handbags with three tones for a bold, anything but dull look. throw on one of our grey/yellow/black boardwalk straps to your crossbody to bring it all together!

perhaps a light pink crossbody bag is too tame for you? well let me tell you about red... from bright scarlet to deep crimson, from pinky coral to rich sangria, the scale is vast! how do you even begin to select the right shade for a bag collection? as a designer, it’s my job to be discerning when it comes to color — after all, you’re going to wear it, so not just any hue will do. for shortyLOVE, i envisioned a pure, vibrant red with a cool blue base. confident. classic. sublime.
getting color right is more than an art, it’s science. so the fabric mill and i went back and forth. i selected the shade i wanted to achieve, the mill sent me what they call a strike off (a sample, essentially), i asked for adjustments, they sent another strike off, and so on.
we took the time to get it right. and the result? the truest, pickiest red ever for shortyLOVE bags. i set it off with black straps and black accents for yet another two-toned handbag. the ideal accompaniment for your crossbody bag: a red/black or black/cream check boardwalk strap.

color is so transformative – and impactful. think about it. how many times have you seen a shirt (or anything else, really) and wished it just came in another color? i know i have. i want you to have options with your bags at shortyLOVE. for me, that starts with designing bags in different colorways and extends to personalizing your bag with customization options.
whether you have one of our large, medium or small crossbody bags in black, the simple addition of a colorful strap changes the look completely.crafted using soft and durable nylon twill, our adjustable boardwalk straps come in 10 different colorways that you can use to change up the look of your crossbody. whether you want to match it with the new bag colors or experiment with color, it’s your turn to play designer. how cool is that?
when i design, my goal is to provide my shortyLOVERs with bags that solve your everyday carry issues that are going to give you utility without sacrificing style. along with our softer, smarter, more organized designs, color is integral to achieving your own style. express your personality. change up your look. color can do it all!

in case you didn’t realize it by now, i love handbags. i think it’s incredible how they can not only serve a functional purpose but make each and every one of us feel stylish. while i could go on about my love of all things bags, i’ll spare you (for now!). the point is, these bags — big and small — do so much for us. so why is it that so often we don’t give our bags the care they deserve? after all, proper care is what is going to keep them in their best shape for years to come. time to give our bags some tlc. let’s take a look at how to keep bags in good condition.
if your shortyLOVE bag is like mine, it goes through a lot. trips outside no matter the weather. small, accidental spills after that midday coffee run (oops!). all that we put bags through can take its toll. want to know how to keep bags in good condition? it’s not going to take much time, i promise. as a busy business owner/bag designer on the go, i know how important it is for bags to be easy to care for — so i designed ours to be easy to clean, store and organize!
whether you’re heading out for errands with your shortyLOVE bag or on a trip with your massive shortyLOVE friday weekender travel bag, you’ll be out in the real world with our water-resistant nylon twill fabric that’s — yep, you guessed it — actually designed for the real world. just spot clean with mild detergent, air dry and you’re done. don’t forget to get your bag’s interior, too! turns out learning how to keep handbags in good condition doesn’t have to be as extensive as a youtube cleaning tutorial.
an essential part of knowing how to keep bags in good condition is knowing the best way to store them.. i know i’m guilty of not always protecting my bags the way they should be. how about you?
the first step is knowing where you should and shouldn’t keep your bag when not out on the town. shortyLOVE bags are durable but not indestructible! did you know that placing any bag in prolonged direct sunlight can cause discoloration and impact overall condition? that includes shortyLOVE bags, so let’s look at what you can do to help keep those colors vibrant.
do: keep bags in a dark, dry place with adequate ventilation to keep them safe from dust and damage. we don’t want anything scratching our bags! i designed our bags to store completely flat — just like they arrived at your door when we shipped them. that makes them ideal for a drawer, although a shelf will do.
don’t: store in an area with direct sunlight. you’re the one that needs daily vitamin d — not your bag.
bags can sometimes become a black hole for well… everything. if you know, you know. one of the not-so-obvious steps to learning how to keep bags in good condition is to keep them clutter-free. besides weighing you down, all those unnecessary extras migrating around the bottom of your bag might end up marring your otherwise lovely blush nylon lining.
keeping your bag free of clutter isn’t always as simple as it sounds, i get it. to make it a little easier, try to make a habit of decluttering once a week. totally worth it, trust me.
occasional decluttering, along with containing pens, lipsticks and sharp objects, can go a long way toward keeping your bag’s interior looking as good as new. let’s talk more about that…
organization probably doesn’t sound like part of how to keep bags in good condition — yet it can be surprisingly helpful. all those essentials we love can, unfortunately, become the culprits of interior stains. that stray lip balm that melts? what a mess. that new bold lipstick you took a chance on in the store? stunning shade on you. on your bag? not so much. that’s where organization comes in. stash things where you know you’ll be able find them and where they can do the least amount of damage. i designed storage compartments into shortyLOVE bags for a reason!
take the boxer, for example. plenty of storage space for larger stuff, sure, but it also has a zip pocket and a cute detachable pouch for your smaller essentials. take advantage of the organization solutions our bags provide, tuck it in a compartment or maybe add a small stevie cosmetic bag to your main bag. it’s one of the simplest things you can do when learning how to keep bags in good condition.
i love my handbags. you love yours. now, let’s keep loving them for years to come by taking care of them the way we know we should. remember how to keep your bags in good condition — even if it’s just by following one step at a time. together, we’ve got this.

there are a lot of cute cosmetic bags out there. but – and this is a big one – they don’t really offer us the practicality we need for travel, everyday life, or even a quick gym sesh. what use is that cute cosmetic bag if you can’t use it?! not wanting to sacrifice practicality for style, i set out to design a small cosmetic bag that delivers everything we’ve been looking for in a makeup bag – plus a little more.
palm-sized bags? adorable, but way too small. full makeup cases? great for all of those palettes you’ve treated yourself to, but a no-go for on-the-go. i wanted to design a small makeup travel bag that was compact enough to fit in your carry-on yet still had the space you need for all of travel-sized beauty essentials. measuring in at a petite 6" h x 7" l x 6 3/8" d, the stevie is your fairy tale “not too big, not too small, just right” size. say goodbye to those other cosmetic bags that take up precious bag space!
don’t think that i forgot about storage. stevie may be a small cosmetic bag, roomier than it looks but small enough to tuck into your boxer, tillie, or friday. a depth of 6 ⅜” offers plenty of space for all of your lotions, makeup, haircare, and other travel musts without feeling like it’s overstuffed.
plus, stevie has a flat, structured bottom for easy loading so you can set her up on any bathroom counter or vanity while you get ready. i told you she was practical!
raise your hand if you’ve ever had to dig through your bag for lip balm or even worse, bobby pins. i mean, where do they go after that zipper closes? i wanted your small cosmetic bag to give you quick and easy access to those items. i’m for spending more time having fun on your vacay and less time fumbling through your cosmetic bag!
i designed the end-to-end zipper to open extra wide so you can see all your things, then the blush lining that helps make them easier to spot, then pockets. the inner side pocket keeps slim items handy (lip balm, i’m looking at you). the inner pop-red zip pocket keeps small essentials like hair ties secure and accessible. oh, and did i mention that the interior is blush pink so you can see everything in your small makeup travel bag? work smarter, not harder.
stiff cosmetic bags feel rigid and have zero give when you’re packing your travel bag. I wanted to create a small cosmetic bag that felt softer yet still offered structure. something a little luxurious.
stevie is as plush as she is practical. deliciously plush with a structured base and structured internal padding to hold the beautiful shape, she’s made for the ultimate packability. no more sharp corners that poke through your carry-on. no more taking up space that could’ve been used for souvenirs. just a small cosmetic bag with a soft drape that’s waiting to fit perfectly next to your packing cubes.
i wanted to design a small cosmetic bag that was more durable than other designs i’ve seen offered online. while i appreciate style (who doesn’t?), i also want my bag to be durable enough to take me from destination to destination and coated to provide stain resistance. with stevie, no broken zippers and no bags that are hard to clean when the inevitable spill happens.
designed using water-resistant nylon twill fabric, stevie is your easy-to-clean dream makeup bag. all you need to do is spot clean with a mild detergent and water, then air dry. same goes for the luxurious, interior blush nylon: a simple spot clean, and she’ll be as good as new.
need more durability? I got you. high-quality vision zipper that won’t rust and can be used in wet and humid environments. waxed cotton cord to pull the exterior zipper. durable nylon to withstand water and the inevitable spills - made to stand up to daily use and travel. she’s a small makeup travel bag you can confidently use for many adventures to come.
i’m a firm believer in designing bags that deliver both style and functionality, whether it’s a cosmetic bag or a tote. we shouldn’t have to choose one or the other! we deserve both, am i right? enter: stevie. she’s the small cosmetic bag that does it all. classic. chic. cute, cubed, and certainly never boring.
there’s a look for everyone. love a good print that stands out? show off your wild side with leopard! love a good neutral? khaki and navy go with everything. and, of course, you can always bet on black. our cosmetic bag is designed to coordinate with the rest of our collection and is available in 7 colorways.
i know you have a lot of lotions, potions and travel-sized notions to pack in your small cosmetic bag, which is why i don’t want to weigh you down any more than necessary. ever picked up a cute bag, and it’s been super heavy – even when empty? yeah… no one wants that.
when designing stevie, i knew i wanted her to be more lightweight for better carrying. the result: 0.4 lbs. of compact goodness. add in the fact she’s made of durable, wipeable nylon twill, plush for packability, and has plenty of storage, and you’ve got yourself one easy, breezy, travel-ready makeup bag.
my shortyLOVERs can’t get enough of this bag for travel – so lightweight, so cute on your hotel vanity, and so you!
if you’re like me, you love getting more versatility from your stuff. leggings that take you from the gym to happy hour? yes, please. ottomans that double as storage? sign me up. small cosmetic bags that are for more than just your everyday handbag? absolutely.
tuck stevie into your carry-on before your next flight. pack her into your boxer backpack. I like to pack my stevie with my sunscreens, skincare, and hair care and tuck her into my beach bag for a quick beach getaway. use her to keep your medications handy on a trip. instead of a zip-lock bag, isn’t it time your on-the-go beauty regime grew up? level up your daily makeup bag with one that looks and feels more high-end. go ahead – stevie is made for it all.
where did the name stevie come from? none other than the woman who “ takes to the sky like a bird in flight,” a free-spirited. bewitching. bohemian. i wanted to create a small cosmetic bag worthy of such an influential woman. to stevie and to all those that radiate her same energy – this one’s for you.
