which is better, a wristlet clutch or a clutch wallet?

ooh, good question! let’s break it down… a wristlet clutch like our cleo is a true clutch with card slots on the inside to hold your ID and credit cards, so you don’t have to bring along a wallet. a clutch wallet like our jetty is sized and functions like a wallet but is designed with enough depth to hold some small essentials (similar to a small clutch) — your phone, lip balm, maybe even your glasses. we like to tuck the jetty into a larger bag with our credentials while traveling and carry it to, say, the coffee shop at our destination. if headed to brunch, we like to bring our cleo. when deciding which is right for you, consider size — the cleo holds more than the jetty. then consider how you want to carry — a wristlet strap keeps a clutch close, while no strap makes a wallet easier to set down and (potentially) forget if you’re not tucking it into a bag.

do lightweight wallets with rfid really work?

yes! our small designer jetty and merchant wallets have a thin layer of hidden metal to block electromagnetic signals that rfid readers use to communicate with your cards. this reduces the risk of rfid skimming, which is when a thief steals your information without physical access. you want an rfid-blocking wallet when in crowded places like airports, tourist attractions (national and international), public transportation or concerts. just in case!

What is rfid-blocking?

shortyLOVE wallets are designed with a thin layer of hidden metal that blocks electromagnetic signals that RFID readers use to communicate with your cards. This is called rfid blocking and it deters thieves. RFID stands for radio-frequency identification.

Are wallets with rfid-blocking technology good for everyday use?

Yes. Our small merchant wallet and jetty clutch wallet both offer something important that you can’t see: rfid-blocking protection, which blocks anyone from wirelessly skimming the data stored in your credit cards’ microchips. This is a great security feature any time but especially when traveling, taking public transportation or when you find yourself in large crowds.

Why would I choose a billfold-style wallet instead of a clutch wallet?

This is really about considering what you need to bring with you than it is about the style of wallet. Our merchant wallet unzips and folds open like a classic billfold wallet, so you can hold it in your palm to access your cards and cash — there’s not room for much else. When it’s zipped up, it’s compact enough to fit in your palm. Our jetty clutch wallet, on the other hand, is longer and offers more depth, with room for your phone, glasses and even lip balm in addition to cards and cash. It’s large enough to tuck under your arm, unlike the merchant.

Good question! Personally, we love both, so the right cleo clutch for you probably depends on what you’ll be wearing. Black is a classic, of course.
